Comparison of Experimental and Numerical Transient Drop Deformation during Transition through Orifices in High-Pressure Homogenizers

چکیده

The droplet deformation in dispersing units of high-pressure homogenizers (HPH) is examined experimentally and numerically. Due to the small size common homogenizer nozzles, visual analysis transient generation usually not possible. Therefore, a scaled setup was used. determined quantitatively by using shadow imaging technique. It shown that influence stresses on droplets caused laminar extensional flow upstream orifice highly relevant for breakup behind nozzle. Classical approaches based an equilibrium assumption other side are adequate explain observed distributions. Based experimental results, relationship from literature with numerical simulations adopting different models used determine during transition through orifices. results fairly good agreement at limited settings. can be concluded apparatus well suited estimate formation up outlet orifice.
